Welcome to the first Artisan Books E-Newsletter for 2010.

The website has been updated with new reviews, up-to-date booklists and links to outside workshops and like-minded outlets. We have just received a massive shipment of new titles to kick-off the new year and to prepare us for the three textile conferences that we will be attending over the next few months, so be sure to access the booklists or drop in to visit us for a peruse.

In our display cases at present we have a wonderful array of basket work by Jill Brose, Eric Collins, Flora Friedman, Glenese Keavney and Jane Meredith Whitten, ceramic work by Alistair Whyte, Terry Hirata, Kerry Lightbody and Onta Ceramics Japan, hand-embroidered brooches by Patricia Holleley and a unique selection of coral forms crocheted out of shopping bags by Nicole Johnson.

We have almost finalised our exhibition calendar for the coming year. For those interested in participating, or visiting us to see the wonderful creations, the calendar will be as follows:

From the 3rd - 24th of July 2010 we will be hosting our 10th Annual Beanie Exhibition, awarding a $50 book voucher to the most outrageous sculptural creation. We wish to exhibit a broad range of traditions and techniques so we will be accepting beanies of every possible size, shape and material. If anyone would like to be involved please contact the shop for details. Beanies must be for sale. We received over 350 beanies last year and hope to expand on that even further to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the exhibition.

From the 21st of August until the 11th of September will be holding our 5th Annual Artist Books Exhibition. The theme for this year will be ‘Atlas.’ With the Artist Book Exhibition we seek to explore the boundaries of how a book is defined, focusing on the book as a sculptural form. Previous years entries may be viewed on our website. If anyone is interested please let us know and we will send you out an entry form.

Throughout the year we will attending a variety of festivals and gatherings. Those that we have locked in so far are as follows:
